Mindset Monday: Home Salons

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are feeling ready for the week ahead! This week’s Mindset Monday topic is ‘Home Salons’.

Running a nail salon from home is a dream for many nail techs, offering flexibility, lower overhead costs, and a comfortable space to build your business. Today we are talking with the lovely Jasmine from JE Beauty who has shared what she loves about working from home.

I’m Jasmine, from Worksop in Nottinghamshire. I’ve been in the industry for over 5 years now and my passion is still thriving! My business started just before lockdown, after realising I wanted to develop a more creative and rewarding career. My time was spent in the lockdowns developing and refining my skills and practising nail art, ready to throw myself head first into being full time self employed! I’m trained in a wide range of services from Builder Gel and Acrylics to Brow Lamination and Lash Lifts! I now utilise my background as a Primary Teacher to teach courses to those wanting to start up in the industry.

Working from home is the perfect balance for me. My studio space is the perfect combination of private and secure whilst still giving that ‘salon feel’. I’m able to provide a relaxing and homely 1 to 1 space for my clients, whilst still giving those little touches that you’d find in a high street salon.

My little home salon is decorated with calming neutrals with a pop of greenery in, the perfect relaxing setting for my clients. My display shelves are in pride of place behind my desk, allowing clients to see the vast amount of colours I have on offer! When designing the space, I tried to add practical touches to make my day run smoothly from appointment to appointment. My favourite thing about my salon that my clients love is my ‘Book Swap’. I have a wide variety of books, often donated by other clients, which people are able to take after their appointments. Me and a lot of my clients are keen readers, so we enjoy swapping the books and discussing our current faves! I always enjoy sharing ones from my own collection and seeing them being passed around and enjoyed by other clients.

A few other little touches I like to include for my clients are offering hot or cold drinks or snacks, loyalty cards and stamps for each visit and even Christmas gifts to say thank you for each year of support. Small gifts like aftercare kits for treatments go a long way to making those appointments extra special.

I am a funky and quirky nail art lover! I love when clients bring me mix and match designs or even create their own designs as inspo for their appointments! The funkier the nail art the better!

A huge thank you to Jasmine for getting involved in this week’s topic and for sharing the extra touches she implements to give her clients a wonderful experience. I love the clean and fresh look of her salon and as a avid reader myself, I adore the fact she has a book swap in her salon - What a fantastic idea!
